Abstract

The transition towards sustainable energy sources is a global imperative driven by concerns over environmental degradation and climate change. Among the cleaner alternatives provided for energy sources is biogas. However, its adoption in many rural areas has remained low. This study investigated the factors influencing the adoption of biogas technology among households in Taita Taveta County, Kenya. Using data collected among the households in the region, a multivariate probit model was employed to analyse the relationships among various factors and energy choices. The results showed that income is a crucial determinant, but education, occupation, access to credit, and land size also play significant roles.
